Meet Dr. Tracie Traver
Candidate for School Board, District 5
Dr. Tracie Traver is committed to building a safer, more inclusive future for our students and to providing unwavering support for the dedicated educators of Blount County District 5. Her leadership is rooted in fostering both academic excellence and emotional well‑being for every child.
Dr. Traver has called Blount County home for more than 25 years. As a physician, she has cared for women and their children while listening closely to their stories. She has spoken with teachers, administrators, parents, and students, and has heard many different points of view. In light of recent events in Blount County schools, she is deeply concerned about the safety of everyone in our education system—especially our most vulnerable, the students.
Tracie has served in many leadership roles, from managing multiple businesses to serving on nonprofit boards, including the local domestic violence shelter. She has a strong passion for leadership, completing numerous leadership courses. These include graduating from BB&T’s Mastering Leadership Dynamics program, and earning an MBA from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. A lifelong learner, she brings this mindset into every area of her life.
With these skills and her long-standing ties to Blount County, Tracie offers both knowledge of our community and a clear understanding of its culture and people. She is committed to putting school safety first, because children who are scared or hurt are not in an environment where they can learn.
Tracie is also focused on equity in education so that every child has access to a high‑quality education. She believes funding must be addressed: Tennessee ranks last in public education funding, and vouchers will only make this problem worse. Our children are the future leaders of our community. When we serve them well, our entire community is well served.
